Cutimed® Alginate is an alginate made from natural seaweed, which consists of 70% calcium alginate and 30% sodium alginate. The carrier material is a semi-permeable non-woven fabric coated on both sides with natural fibres from seaweed. An integrity layer contained in the product core gives the dressing improved wet stability, and during the exchange of the calcium ions of the wound dressing with the sodium ions of the exudate, the alginate transforms into a gel while absorbing fluid. Cutimed® Alginate impresses with its very high and rapid absorption and retention capacity, which reduces the number of dressing changes and minimises the risk of maceration. Its gel-like consistency makes it easy to change dressings, as liquid remains securely trapped in the core. The dressing can be removed in one piece with minimal pain for the patient.
Cutimed® Alginate has a haemostatic effect on lightly bleeding wounds. Thanks to the highly flexible fibres, it adapts to any wound bed and is easy to cut to size. Cutimed® Alginate consists of 70 % calcium alginate and 30 % sodium alginate.
