LAVANID - dressing (wound dressing)

The LAVANID® dressing (wound dressing) is a sterile, moist and ready-to-use wound dressing with polyhexanide that absorbs wound exudate and covers and moistens the wound environment. The polyhexanide bound in the wound dressing serves exclusively to preserve the moist dressing material and provides preventive protection against the multiplication of bacterial and fungal pathogens in the dressing material. Pathogens are absorbed and inactivated in the dressing. The moist wound dressing dissolves biofilm, cleans the wound and creates an optimal wound environment for the formation of new granulation tissue. Wound contact nets on both sides prevent adhesion to the wound and ensure gentle dressing changes. Furthermore, the LAVANID® dressing supports a fast and efficient removal of wound coatings. Good vertical exudate absorption and application across wound phases characterise our wound dressing.

Optimal wound care

Careful wound cleansing is a prerequisite for optimal wound care and the basis for rapid wound healing. LAVANID® 1/2 wound irrigation solutions and LAVANID® wound gels are now perfectly complemented by LAVANID® dressings. Thus we offer a wound therapy system from cleansing to primary covering of acute and chronic wounds.

Possible applications

The LAVANID® dressing is used for acute and chronic wounds with an increased risk of infection. Examples are:

Ulcus cruris (ulcer of the lower leg)

Decubitus up to grade 3

Diabetic foot syndrome

Postoperative wounds

1st and 2nd degree burns

Superficial wounds (e.g. split skin sites) and deep wounds

Application

First, the wound should be carefully cleansed. LAVANID® wound irrigation solutions and LAVANID® wound gels are suitable for this purpose. After the wound has been cleaned, the LAVANID® dressing (wound dressing) can be sterilely cut or applied to the desired size. For dry wounds, the additional application of a moisturising gel on the back of the primary wound dressing is recommended. The wound dressing (5cm x 5cm or 10cm x 10cm) can be used on both sides and is not self-adhesive, i.e. it must be additionally fixed with a secondary dressing. Change the dressing as needed and according to the stage of the wound. A daily dressing change is recommended. However, the dressing should be changed after three days at the latest.
